Abstract: This study aims to identify and analysing both advantages and disadvantages of the EVFTA to Vietnam’s timber industry, based on the main research question: To what extent is Vietnam’s Timber industry affected by VEFTA? The author’s hypothesis is that VEFTA will positively impact to boost the import and export activities of Vietnam timber industry. This hypothesis is clarified based on the analysis of tax SMART/WITS model in comparison with other competitors exporting timber to the EU market such as Indonesia, China, Malaysia, Thailand and Brazil; combined with an analysis of the actual import – export of Vietnam’s timber industry to the EU market based on the secondary data from The World bank, ITC and primary data by interviewing specialists and local furniture exporters to the EU market.
